Our Story
Family Owned. Family Run. Since 1984.
The business started in 1984 in the basement of our 2 bedroom home. My mother – a nurse – was approached by a physician to start an answering service for the purpose of processing their calls and dispatching them to the appropriate individuals with the appropriate urgency. This would allow the operator to gather all necessary information from a caller and have that information available for the physicians when they would call back. Physicians could then methodically process information and make better decisions, inevitably enhancing patient care.
So, it began. My mother installed an extra telephone line in our house and registered for a business license as Medical Exchange Answering Service Inc. She would answer the phones at night after getting off work and my father would answer the phones during the day. As you would expect, this made for very few vacations or getaways as a child. But I came to know the answering service inside and out. As our company grew, we were able to expand to a commercial site – opening our first real office in 1987. Sadly, my father passed away just before the move and was never able to see the company make it out of our basement, but he definitely played an important role in where we are today. As the years progressed, the answering service became more and more self-sufficient, enabling my mother to retire from the hospital and concentrate her efforts on the business.
Though she never had any formal business training, she was the shrewdest business-woman I have ever had the pleasure of watching in action. I definitely obtained my ambition and drive from my mother, as she was my everything. I attribute all of my success and achievements as a surgeon, father, husband and friend directly to her. I have watched this business grow – literally – from the ground up. I like to call my upbringing a “school of hard knocks,” – never complacent in life, always keeping goals ahead of my accomplishments. In September of 2013, I lost my mother, my rock, and felt like the world was crashing down on me. I found solace in my wife and children. It was then time for me to transition into to the path that my mother had set me upon some 41 years earlier. I realized that the best way to respect and love her memory was to take the business and continue it with the same passion and zeal. I had never felt surer of anything quite like that.
At this time, I have purchased the business and am now acting President/CEO. We were founded as a family business and will continue as such. My goals are to expand the capabilities of our company and offer a vast array of business and medical call center solutions. We are a business dedicated to professionalism, customer care and dependability. We stand behind our service as we view ourselves as a direct extension of your business, servicing your customers, clients and patients in a courteous, friendly and understanding manner.
Our company now goes by Voice Exchange in order to encompass all of our clients and the various business entities they represent. Though our name has changed, our roots shall always remain firmly planted and our foundation unwavering. I and our employees look forward to establishing exciting partnerships and look forward to a mutually bright future.
Sincerely,
CEO of Voice Exchange
